Royal Family Leads Commemorations on 20th Anniversary of 7/7 Bombings
The Royal Family joined senior public figures today to mark the 20th anniversary of the 7 July 2005 London bombings, a series of coordinated attacks on the Tube and a bus that left 52 dead and hundreds injured.
Ceremonies at St Paul’s Cathedral and Hyde Park were led by King Charles III, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and survivors of the attacks. At St Paul’s, 52 white petals were gently dropped from the dome as each victim’s name was read aloud .
The events underscored themes of unity, resilience, and compassion. King Charles spoke about the bravery of emergency services and called for continued efforts against hatred, while survivors and families honoured the ‘extraordinary courage and solidarity’ shown by ordinary people on that day.
